‘Dining Table’ was made at the Bemis Center for Contemporary Art Residency in Omaha, Nebraska by american artist Michael Beitz. It is part of a series of furniture pieces that attempt to address obvious tensions that exist in our daily routines and relationships. Some of them are directly related to existing design and some suffer from a lack of design to fit their specific function. Beitz is interested in such moments between design and function, therefore he is using furniture design to discuss the life that surrounds it.
