Constructed at the summit of a century-old Manhattan skyscraper, architect David Hotson created an experientially immersive house in the sky, a residence surrounded above and below by the iconic vertical cityscape of New York City. Hotson transformed this raw 19th century shell into an astonishing residence, with living spaces distributed between four stories and a web of circulation paths and vistas passing between the interior levels and out into the surrounding three-dimensional cityscape. With transparent surfaces of the glass bridges, playful elements like a swing, a climbing wall or a 24m long mirror-polished stainless steel slide, which descends through all four levels of the residence, you can make your way through this extraordinary home. In the ‘architect’s cut’ of the SkyHouse film you can experience the architectural artwork.
